WITH BACH INTO THE WORLD – PATHS TO KARL RICHTER
In 2026, the music world will celebrate the 100th birthday of Karl Richter, the influential post-war Bach interpreter whose recordings set global standards – one of which is still travelling through space today on the Voyager Golden Record. With the Munich Bach Choir and Orchestra, he became an international cultural ambassador and style-defining artist. The Karl Richter Anniversary 2026, curated by Hansjörg Albrecht, invites you to rediscover this expressive and still influential phenomenon.

Johann Christoph Bach: Lamento: Lamento: O that I had enough water
Johann Sebastian Bach's last year of life was marked by an eye condition that rapidly led to blindness. Still full of plans and in fairly good health, Bach decided in 1750 to undergo surgery by the English miracle healer John Taylor, who was visiting Leipzig at the time. Was this eye operation partly to blame for his death?
